ÉLIXIR / Maison de Parfumerie / EST. MMXIX
--:--:-- · EDITION 07 — LIVE
— The Maison · Atelier

Composed at midnight, sealed by hand.

Élixir is a small Parisian house composing seven editions, one each season, and never a single bottle more. Each is numbered, wax-sealed, and signed by the perfumer before it leaves the atelier.

The maison was founded in 2019 in a single room above rue de la Roquette in the 11th arrondissement. From the start there was a single rule: one composition per season, no more — and once sealed, never reissued.

Seven years on, the rule still holds. We have produced six editions. The seventh, Nocturne, opens this spring. The eighth is already on the bench — though it will not be named until the wax arrives.

The intent is not scarcity for its own sake. It is the conviction that an edition belongs to a specific season, a specific weather, a specific hour — and that asking the same composition to outlast its moment is asking it to lie.

Every Élixir composition is the work of Mathilde Devereux, the maison's sole perfumer.

Trained at the Institut Supérieur International du Parfum in Versailles, and afterwards at a quietly distinguished house in Grasse, Mathilde opened the atelier in 2019 with the seventh edition already in mind. She works to a single brief, written one season ahead and sealed in a numbered envelope, which is opened on the day composition begins.

She is the maison's only signatory. Each bottle bears her hand.

A composition takes between four and seven months. The opening accord is set within the first week. The dry-down can take a season to settle.

  • 01 Brief A single page, written the previous season and sealed in an envelope until the day composition begins.
  • 02 Sourcing Each ingredient is selected from a small list of growers across Provence, Italy, Madagascar, and Haïti.
  • 03 Composition Eight to twelve weeks at the bench, with a short pause at the heart accord to let the brief breathe.
  • 04 Maturation The full composition rests for sixty days in glass before bottling.
  • 05 Sealing Each bottle is wax-sealed by hand, numbered, and signed before leaving the atelier in Paris.

The atelier is open to visitors by appointment only, on Tuesday through Saturday, between 11 in the morning and 6 in the evening.
